Also known as De La Salle Brothers, this Congregation was founded in France in 1680 by John Baptist de La Salle. The founder saw the need to provide education to the poor because the schools were, at that time, only for the rich. In 1852, the first group of La Salle Brothers arrived in Penang Malaya, where they established their first school, St Xavier’s Institution.
